Federal College Work Study:
Federal College Work Study (FCWS)  is a Financial Aid award that allows students who are receiving financial aid to work up to 15 hours per week on-campus to receive this stipend.  The awarding period is the same as all other finanacial aid awards, or the fiscal academic year beginning July 1st and ending June 30th.
The primary eligibility criteria for Federal College Work Study is that students must be awarded Federal Finanacial Aid AND they must apply (submit FAFSA) on or before the priority deadline of March 2nd prior to the next academic year.   Students must apply (submit FAFSA) each and every year they attend college.   Additionally, applicants must check "Yes" on the the Work Study box on the FAFSA application.
Please Note: Federal College Work Study is not a cash award, nor is it guaranteed if awarded.
Work Study Positions
A number of on-campus FCWS funded student positions are available prior to and at the beginning of each semester. The referral process begins with the established priority list from the Financial Aid office. If you are receiving financial aid but have not yet received a FCWS award, you may still be placed on a secondary Work Study list with the understanding that referral and hiring will depend on final FCWS approval from the Financial Aid office.
Once a student receives a job offer for an on-campus FCWS finded postition, they need to report back to the Job Placement office for futher instructions in order to complete the neccessary forms for student employment.
Other On Campus Employment
Due to the demand and requirements of FCWS and CalWORKs programs, on-campus employment for students not receiving Financial Aid or CalWORKs benefits is very limited. However, students not eligible for Financial Aid but who wish to work part-time on campus may apply in person at any of the following departments: College Bookstore, Building & Grounds (Receiving Building north end), Business Services (room AA-201), and Police Services (Receiving Building south end.)
