CERTIFIED ASU STUDENT LEADERS LEADING OTHERS
In 2007, Contra Costa College Associated Student Union (ASU) members became the first Certified Student leaders in the history of the college. The students were Jeanelle Hope (ASU President), Adam Austin (Vice Presidents of Clubs), and Tim Schulze (ASU past-President). These students have since transferred to four year colleges.
Hope, Austin and Schulze were among 96 students attending the conference. Attendees were tested on the skill necessary for effective leadership of student organizations, including running meetings, resolving conflicts, creating an inclusive and diverse environment, and launching successful publicity and promotional campaigns. An award was presented to students who scored highly on this examination of leadership skills.
Our student leaders were also among other CCC students who recently attended the American Student Government Association Conference in Washington, DC, of which Contra Costa College is a founding member. Students enjoyed the sessions and learned more about leadership and student government.
Associated Student Union training experiences are stepping-stones for future leaders!
