In the figure above the we've added a grid to the original mosaic.
In the figure below we've removed the shading on the mosaic.

Next, we examine a small section of the mosaic.

We see that each section contains 4 central right triangles, each one with a square on the hypotenuse.

And, so this is why the Mosaic is Pythagorean.
